About Grand Valley State University Student Senate
Student Senate works as a liaison between students and faculty to investigate and resolve common student problems; advocate for the inclusion of students in the overall policy and decision-making processes of the university community; promote awareness of the role students play in the academic community; enhance the quality and scope of education at the university both inside and outside the classroom; and empower students with leadership opportunities. Each of our 50 Senators serve on one of six different committees: Senate Resources, Public Relations, Campus Affairs, Educational Affairs, Diversity Affairs, and External Relations. Six Senators from our body also sit on the Appropriations Funding Board and assist with the allocation of the Student Life Fund.
