About Grandad's Caribbean Seasoning
"Traditional Caribbean food, homemade in Hackney. Our recipes have travelled across oceans & down generations, sourced from local families." Grandad's Caribbean Seasoning was a community based project run by Sean Davey and Pauline (Lady P) Pearce in 2013/4. Pauline shot to fame in the 2011 Riots for giving rioters in Hackney a piece of her mind and telling them exactly what she thought about them tearing apart the local community. Sean met her at a community clean-up event, and was already looking for inspiration to start a business having sold chocolate at school and been entrepreneurially minded ever since. The duo worked together with members of the local Caribbean community in Hackney to develop new recipes and products to take to local markets and events. These products championed and preserved family traditions, whilst bringing Caribbean food to a wider audience.
