About Grande Prairie Police Commission

The Grande Prairie Police Commission exists to ensure Grande Prairie is a safe and vibrant city today and into the future. Our mission is to provide strategic direction, innovative leadership, and excellent governance in shaping and sustaining the Grande Prairie Police Service through effective, efficient, and equitable governance, with a commitment to collaboration and engagement with our diverse and growing community. Our role is to provide effective and efficient civilian oversight of the police service through: establishing policies; appointing a Chief of Police and officers; designating a Public Complaint Director; allocating funds provided by Council, and ensuring sufficient staffing. There are currently 7 members of the Grande Prairie Police Commission, 5 public members, 2 city council appointees and 2 provincial appointees. Chair, Commissioner Dan Wong Vice-Chair, Commissioner Natalie Reiman Commissioner Dylan Bressey Commissioner Timothy Burnham Commissioner Lois Duke Commissioner Donna Koch Commissioner Kevin O’Toole Commissioner Warren Travasso Monthly Commission meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month (except August) at 3:00 pm in the Al Robertson Room of Centre 2000. These meetings are open to the public, and the meeting allows an opportunity for questions (this is not the opportunity to address officer conduct concerns). Opportunities to present at a meeting can be arranged through the Executive Director, Lorrie Sitler at lsitler@cityofgp.com. Over the next few years, the Commission will be working with the Chief of Police to transition the City of Grande Prairie policing model from RCMP to the municipal service. At this time, the RCMP are the police of jurisdiction for the City of Grande Prairie. If you need assistance please contact the detachment.
