About Grateful Dress

Grateful Dress is a social business providing bespoke designing and dressmaking services for corporate ladies. On top of creating gowns, cheongsams and event wear, we provide Skin Colour Analysis, Body Shape Analysis, sewing classes for beneficiaries and the public and run ad-hoc CSR projects to fulfil our desire to improve the world and make it a better place. As Grateful Dress is founded on Romans 12:1-2, it is my desire that the creations passed through the hands of our artisans reflect the modest dressing that I personally believe to honour the God that I love. I hope that such a form of dressing might become a movement to showcase how we ladies can be beautiful while dressing in a timeless and tasteful manner. All materials used are as sustainable and ethically sources as possible. I seek to pay fair wages, provide a safe working environment as well as elevate the awareness of the unspoken needs in society through this work. To this end, I invite my clients to (1) be understanding regarding timelines as beneficiaries often face multiple caregiving responsibilities and they do not have the bandwidth to focus on a piece of work for sustained hours at one sitting. (2) To be willing to pay fairly for the work produced. While there is no minimum wage set in Singapore, I want to ensure that beneficiaries can earn enough to sustain or at least supplement their own livelihood. As a previous social worker, I am fully aware of how limited government funding is for clients who fall through the cracks. It is my hope that they do not fall further but can have a chance to live better. (3) To my potential partners, I ask that you consider offering your services to Grateful Dress on a pro-bono basis as this will keep the operational costs low, and therefore channel as much of the revenue to the beneficiaries as possible. For accountability, Grateful Dress has its own bank account. Thus, iif anyone should ask to see the books, they are available and transparent.
