Our Mission is to create jobs, expand businesses and provide training in the growing green economy so families throughout the region can achieve economic self-sufficiency while creating more sustainable communities. Our goal is to create 100 new, green, well-paying jobs over the next four years. Greater Bridgeport Community Enterprises (GBCE) is poised for rapid growth and expansion into new initiatives comprising a multi-pronged strategy to of creating sustaining green jobs: jobs are the economic imperative for Bridgeport. The largest city in Connecticut, Bridgeport is a distressed urban area facing multiple challenges including poverty, unemployment, underfunded schools, deteriorating neighborhoods, and business stagnation. A good job provides multiple cascading advantages and effects: it helps families become economically self-sufficient and helps break the cycle of poverty for generations to come. Joining job creation to the goal of reaching environmentally sustainability in our community will support the financial stability of our families and neighborhoods.
