About Greater Steps Scholars

The mission of Greater Steps Scholars is make certain that every child living in Charlotte’s subsidized housing has both the opportunity for and expectation of a college education. Greater Steps serves as a vehicle of hope for young people with the desire to achieve, but who lack adequate financial means. The Fund and its programming are designed to inspire them to work toward becoming independent, self-reliant citizens of the community, by lending a helping hand. Since its inception, nearly 940 youth have received over $3.8 million in scholarships, having been assisted in attending more than 75different colleges, universities and trade schools.
