About Green Building Council Croatia
Green Building Council Croatia (GBC Croatia) was founded in 2009 as a non-profit organization for the promotion of sustainable building practices. Founders from the business and institutional sectors began building the network in Croatia with the purpose of driving the transformation of the built environment toward sustainable growth. GBC Croatia was established to create a platform for the implementation of green building principles, not only in Croatia but also in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region, through close cooperation with neighboring countries' Green Building Councils (GBCs). GBC Croatia is a part of World GBC, a global network leading the transformation of the built environment to make it healthier and more sustainable. The strategic and operational goals of GBC Croatia are interconnected with the mission, vision and ideas of World GBC. GBC Croatia activities in past years were focused on advocacy for sustainable growth as well as the education of various stakeholders about the values of green building principles and their positive impact. GBC is continually expanding its membership network, activities, financial stability, and organizational structure. Through the years it has acquired influential members, representing relevant companies working in the fields of insulation, installations, heating and cooling technologies, financial institutions, and more. After more than ten years of championing leadership in sustainable policies and awareness raising, creating interconnections within the sectors of real estate, construction, public service and academic community, GBC has grown into a network of more than 130 members. Through participation in various projects funded by European Union programs such as Horizon, LIFE, EUKI, the IKEA Foundation, and the Laudes Foundation, GBC Croatia has established itself as a serious, capable and responsible actor in the field of raising awareness, engaging stakeholders, and empowering the community.
