Green Course is the largest activist environmental movement in Israel, leading climate and environmental policy change through community organizing. Through education for leadership and active civic engagement, we generate bottom-up pressure to deal with the most pressing environmental needs of Israel. Our mission is to inspire the public to take an active role in changing environmental policies, providing all tools and best-practices. We lead 450 activists and volunteers – youth, students and citizens of all ages who believe in taking personal responsibility for our society and environment, and in our power to change reality. In 2024, we secured the Climate Bill’s approval for its second and third readings—laying the groundwork for binding emission-reduction targets—and co-filed Israel’s first Supreme Court climate petition demanding government accountability on international commitments. We championed the groundbreaking Integrated Licensing Law to tighten industrial-permit standards and transparency, and forced the revocation of an Ashdod refinery permit that would have allowed emissions 300 times above legal limits.
