Green Gecko, a unique holiday villa for rent in the traditional Thai style, stands on tranquil private grounds in the countryside of Udon Thani province in northeast Thailand. Green Gecko offers a unique & authentic travel experience in this little visited region of the kingdom, where the mainstay of the local villages is rice, sugarcane & cassava farming. Guests are greeted & looked after throughout their vacation by a Thai family living in a village 2 kilometers from the holiday villa. Maid, guide, laundry & chef services are included, and direct interaction with the hosts allows guests to meet with local villagers. Guests may enjoy the villa & its private pool in solitude, relaxing with a long drink and perhaps indulging in a traditional Thai massage, or may explore this rural region on foot, by bicycle, car, boat or even with the villa's own Tuk-Tuk. In the vicinity are rice paddies, farming & silk-weaving villages, pottery makers, sites of natural beauty & historical interest (including the Ban Chiang UNESCO World Heritage site), as well as numerous markets, forest temples, schools & rural communities. A highlight of your stay will be the exceptional Thai food prepared for you by your hosts; this can be "the real thing" from Isan, or may be toned down to be less searingly hot for the wary palate!
