About Green Heron Compost Services

We reduce landfill waste and greenhouse gas emissions by collecting food and yard scraps from residents of Knox County. This organic waste is sent to local farmers and composted to create an all-natural/organic fertilizer for gardens and crops. We pick up compostable organic waste from Knox Co. homes, just like a curbside garbage collection service. We transport the compostables to local farms to be processed into nutrient-rich compost that supports East Tennessee's agriculture and ecosystems. Customers order Pickups online and redeem on any available date. When you sign up, we deliver your compost bin to your door and replace your dirty bin with a clean one at each Pickup. East Tennessee has a rich heritage in agriculture. Here at Green Heron Compost Services, we want to ensure that our precious land has the nutrients and health needed to support our economy for generations to come. We contribute to this effort by diverting organic waste into composting facilities in order to close the nutrient cycle.
