About Green Opportunities
Green Opportunities’ mission is to train, support, and connect people from marginalized communities to sustainable employment pathways. Green Opportunities (GO) offers a combination of technical training, life skills training, industry-recognized credentials, and personalized support services to unemployed and under-employed residents of Asheville and Buncombe County. Our training and employment programs empower our Members to overcome both personal and systemic barriers to employment. We accomplish this work through four social impact strategies: 1) A technical and life skills training and job placement program featuring technical certifications, basic education and ongoing case management; 2) GO owned or affiliated social enterprises that create jobs, generate program-supporting revenues and provide additional on-the-job training and living wage job opportunities for training graduates; 3) Community engagement that bolsters existing capacity through effective partnerships; and 4) Strategic outreach designed to educate and activate the greater community to support our programs and promote meaningful change.
