About Green Screen Environmental Film Festival
Established in 2010, the Green Screen Environmental Film Festival is a celebration of the power of films and storytelling, with an intensive focus on global environmental issues facing the planet today. Most notably, it’s the first festival in the Caribbean region centered on environmentally themed films. We screen a diverse range of films and styles with the purpose of inspiring dialogue and activating an impetus to action around the notion of sustainability and its solutions to current environmental concerns. This year’s theme has been carefully selected, entitled “Transition” to connect with the UN Sustainable Development Goals Agenda. Within our scope of engagements, we curate and host multiple panels and discussions over a wide range of environmentally focused topics with industry professionals and experts in their fields. In order to encourage and inspire a more youthful generation of creative thinkers and environmental activists, we introduced a special segment of the film festival called the Very Short Shorts Mobile Film Competition, a product of the core festival. With the challenges and restrictions caused by COVID-19, we shifted our format to fully virtual in 2020 and 2021. However 2022 ushers in a hybrid format, with both virtual and in person events and screenings.
