About GreenDreamsWomen&Kids

GreenDreamsWomen is a US (San Diego) based 501(c) 3 certified non-profit that works to empower economically and socially disadvantaged women through livelihood training and micro-business incubation. *Background: GreenDreamsWomen was established to address the crucial issue of chronic unemployment amongst the more than 80,000 women headed households in post-conflict Sri Lanka in 2013. Our mission is to provide a hub/hubs for women to gather, heal, learn and thrive in their respective communities. By creating a safe space at the non-profit’s Jaffna empowerment center combined with training and access to finance women, who are heads of their households, are empowered to earn a sustainable and decent livelihood that lifts them and their children out of poverty. After training more than 100 women in quilling card making, the social enterprise is now employing 5 full time women at the Jaffna empowerment center. The goal is to provide sustainable employment for 200 women by 2020. Tara our Founder and CEO is helping with the steady progress towards the mission of promoting reconciliation through economic empowerment and micro-business incubation by bringing women from the North and South for training, exchange of ideas and dialogue.
