About Greenwoods Counseling & Referrals
The mission of Greenwoods Counseling Referrals, Inc. is to create a healthier community by providing access to high quality mental healthcare to everyone in Litchfield County. Greenwoods is a nonprofit organization that helps people find quality mental healthcare. Greenwoods currently has 3 areas of focus: Mental Health Assessments & Referrals: Greenwoods offers mental health assessments, at no charge for qualifying clients, to anyone who lives or works in Litchfield County. Following the assessment, the client is matched with a clinician either in our network of 170 private practice providers or one of our in-house clinicians, whoever best meets the needs of the client. Many clients in Litchfield County are uninsured or underinsured. Greenwoods can help these clients afford their mental health treatment through our financial aid program. Youth Mental Health Program: Greenwoods partners with two local schools to provide a school-based mental health program. We provide services in the school, which allows access to treatment for students who would otherwise go without care. Additionally, Greenwoods has partnered with several other public schools to bring our model of assessment and referral to students. Parents, teachers, or students can request a mental health assessment. Community Outreach & Recovery Navigation: Many individuals throughout Litchfield County struggle with mental health and addiction problems in isolation. In our rural communities, many people do not know where to turn for help or how to access treatment. Our Community Outreach & Recovery Navigators travel the county informing people of the work we do and helping individuals access the most appropriate treatment for their unique situations.
