About Grennaskolan Riksinternat
Grennaskolan Riksinternat closed down permanently in 2019. Grennaskolan Riksinternat AB is an international boarding school situated in Gränna, Sweden. Gränna a unique small town in the southern part of Sweden. The town was founded by Count Per Brahe in 1652. Stockholm University, which started Grennaskolan 1963, saw many benefits with Gränna as a place for an international boarding school. Grennaskolan, the school that wants to be different was the message and the key words were small scale, international focus and a family atmosphere. This is still the hallmark of Grennaskolan. The boarding school has a mix of Swedish students from abroad, international and local students. Students are included, regardless of their background. Our major marketers are former students and their parents. Stable owner of the school is the municipality of Jönköping, one of the biggest municipalities in Sweden. Grennaskolan offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, fully taught in English, as well as the Swedish national programmes, Samhällsprogrammet and Naturvetenskapsprogrammet. Grennaskolan also offer year 7-9 of the Swedish Compulsory School, with an international profile. Summer Courses In a secure and stimulating environment, in a town known for it´s beauty during the summer months, Grennaskolan offers Swedish youth living abroad courses in language as well as a Confirmation Course. These courses emphasize language skills as well as Swedish/European history, civics and natural environment. Summer School courses also function as preparatory for attending school in Sweden. Courses are run by teachers with experience in working with Swedish students who live or have lived abroad. The course schedule, with lessons before lunch and excursions and activities after lunch and on the weekends, helps students develop friendships quickly.
