About Grizzly Mountain Woodworks
Grizzly Mountain Woodworks was born out of a desire to provide unique quality made furniture pieces in this age of mass produced furniture. The background of the owners started 35 years ago as they embarked upon a “building career”. Quality construction has always been a passion and it led to a very successful framing business in the Philadelphia area. Townhouses and condominiums as well as dormitories for West Chester University were among the many structures built. Charles earned his status as a journeyman carpenter and even taught an apprenticeship program. He continues this tradition working with an apprentice in the shop today. As time progressed, the business evolved and the owners added custom home building to their resume. All the while, their knowledge and customer service skills were expanded. As a young man Charles was glued to the television every Saturday watching Norm Abram on “The New Yankee Workshop”. As he watched and learned From Norm he longed to have his own wood shop. One day a parcel of land from a local farm owner became available. 22 acres with breathtaking vistas was purchased. For the next five years, they worked tirelessly to save and invest to realize their dream. In 2005 they broke ground and began construction on the wood shop with an upstairs apartment to temporarily house them while the other outbuildings and eventually the log cabin are built. Charles naturally built all the interior 6 panel doors, custom moldings’, railings, and kitchen as well as most of the furniture. In 2007 they moved in and within a year began operating Grizzly Mountain Woodworks. The commitment to quality is stronger today than it ever was and is delivered daily through our craftsmanship.
