The GRÓ Geothermal Training Programme (GRÓ GTP) is a postgraduate training programme, aiming at assisting developing countries in capacity building within geothermal exploration and development. The Programme consists of Fellowships, MSc and PhD Scholarships, and Short Courses for practicing professionals from developing and transitional countries with significant geothermal potential. GRÓ GTP’s objectives are to strengthen capacities by providing excellence in training, education, and research opportunities, by facilitating the professional growth of geothermal professionals and by placing cooperation, capacity building, knowledge-sharing, and research at the forefront of its mission. Through cooperation with its extensive network of partners, GRÓ GTP aims to further Iceland's contribution to the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals. GRÓ GTP operates under the umbrella of GRÓ: Centre for Capacity Development – Sustainability and Societal Change which is under the auspices of UNESCO. The Programme was previously known as United Nations University Geothermal Training Programme (UNU-GTP).
