About Ground-Up Governance

Ground-Up Governance is a multimedia platform for anyone who is - or could be - interested in corporate governance. Our written, audio, video, and illustrated resources are accessible, practical, and FUN. Most of the content is completely FREE, with special benefits for subscribers. Our objective is to *ahem* illustrate the core concepts underlying corporate governance. The field is cloaked in layer after layer of jargon that many find impenetrable - including experienced executives and directors. Starting from first principles, Ground-Up Governance will peel back those layers one by one. We define authority. Then power. Then accountability. Brick by brick, we will build our way to such complex definitions as fiduciary duty, liability, EDI and others that boardrooms grapple with every day. Ground-Up Governance was founded by Matt Fullbrook, a corporate governance advisor, researcher, and educator. Matt currently serves as a consultant at Fullbrook Board Effectiveness and as an Executive in Residence at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. Previously, he led Rotman’s corporate governance research for 20 years as manager of the Clarkson Centre for Board Effectiveness and the David & Sharon Johnston Centre for Corporate Governance Innovation.
