About Growing Me

Growing Me is an app and physical tool-kit to help children who've suffered from early trauma feel safe and secure. It is a bright and engaging journey that guides a child and their trusted adult through 10 fun-filled sessions. Jam-packed with games, creative activities, and animations, Growing Me was designed by an adopter and therapist duo who have made an accessible therapeutic experience that is a part of family life. Providing a “Life Story” is a statutory requirement for all children who have been through the care system, yet sadly social workers often do not have the resources to deliver these in a form that is best for the individual. The content is informed by the science of developmental trauma, and evidence based trauma and attachment psychotherapies - as well as the realities of delivering these within the child & parent/carer relationship. Together they will build awareness of their bodies and minds, explore identity and belonging, and importantly, build connections with each other. It includes therapeutic parenting strategies as well as psycho-education, dyadic art therapy, sensory integration and attachment promoting activities. Growing Me grew out of a mother's love for her little boy. Sadly, the little boy had been so badly hurt before she met him, that it was hard for him to trust his new mum and to form any new relationships. His body held a story of fear and protection that made everything difficult. The mother used her love of nature, creativity, and storytelling to help her little boy feel safer day by day... and Growing Me was born. Life Story Work should be so much more than giving a child a book of facts. For a child to build a positive future we believe they must be supported with the tools to face their stories on their own terms, with Life Story Work that is truly therapeutic.
