About Grundy's Shoes

Grundy's Shoes has become one of the biggest shoe stores operating in South Australia. The original store has operated from the same location in Rundle Street for over 120 years! Constructed in 1896, the Rundle Street store first traded as H. Grundy and Co before being renamed Grundy's Shoes. The current owners, the Judd and Whittenbury families, bought the business in 1921. The families had owned shoe stores in Adelaide since 1868, and saw Grundy's Shoes as a chance to trade closer to the retail heart of the city. They retained the Grundy's name and, of course, it still remains today. In the early 90's, we opened a Glenelg store, followed by a store in Victor Harbor in 2007. The Rundle Street store enjoyed a major upgrade in 2010 whilst Victor Harbor was extended in 2012 to accommodate the growth in trade. In 2013, the last remaining Judd's store and Grundy's Shoe stores in Glenelg amalgamated, allowing a bigger and better Grundy's Shoes store to be situated closer to the bustling heart of Glenelg. From humble beginnings as a very traditional shoe store, Grundy's has evolved into a business focused very much on comfort shoes and lifestyle footwear for the discerning customer. We pride ourselves on old-fashioned service, expert knowledge of footwear, and a wide range of shoes with the “wow” factor.
