About Guyala Yimba
Guyala Yimba, meaning “Sweetheart, Listen” in Ghungalu, is a First Nations storytelling collective dedicated to capturing, honouring, and sharing Indigenous stories as a powerful force for cultural reclamation, solidarity, and systemic change. Storytelling is at the heart of everything we do—whether through performance, workshops, digital media, or immersive experiences. We believe our stories carry the strength of our ancestors and the vision for our future. Our work connects communities across generations and borders, using narrative as a tool for healing, truth-telling, and political and social transformation. Through Guyala Yimba, we create spaces where culture speaks first, and where Indigenous voices lead the way in shaping a more just and connected world. Alongside our storytelling work, we offer consultancy and co-design services to support governments, organisations, and institutions to embed Indigenous knowledge and cultural frameworks into their programs. From leadership development to facilitation and strategic planning, we guide partners to do this work with integrity, accountability, and deep respect. At its core, Guyala Yimba is a movement driven by the power of story to restore, resist, and reimagine.
