About Gyeonggi Suwon International School (GSIS)
Gyeonggi Suwon International School (GSIS) is an International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) based Pre-K to 12th Grade program located in Suwon, South Korea. The school was established to provide a high-quality international education with a Christian emphasis for foreign children in Korea. GSIS has a capacity enrollment of 800 students in grades Pre-K-12. The school is authorized with the International Baccalaureate Organization in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). GSIS is one of only two schools in South Korea that offers all three programs. The school is also accredited with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, EARCOS (East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools), KORCOS (Korea Regional Conference of Overseas Schools), KAIAC (Korea–American Interscholastic Activities Conference), and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). GSIS currently employs 150 faculty and staff representing 14 different nationalities. Teaching faculty hail from all over the globe including North America, Oceania, Africa, India, Eastern Europe, and South America. A large percent of the teaching faculty are pursuing higher degrees. A significant portion of the budgeted expense at GSIS is designated for professional development and IB training for the teaching staff. Suwon is located at the center of the Korean Peninsula and is one of the largest cities in Gyeonggi Province. Just 30 kilometers (20 miles) from Seoul, Suwon has the modern conveniences of a major city but many options for a nature get away. Suwon, like much of Korea, is a mix of modern day technology surrounded by 5,000 years if ancient history. Gyeonggi Suwon International School is committed to providing safe and comfortable living accommodations for our overseas staff.
