About GymologyDundee

Gymology is the brainchild of Valerie Duguid, an alumni of Abertay University, Dundee. Gymology is to be a mainstream gym with a gym area specifically designated for people with chronic health conditions such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, mental health, obesity, Alzheimers and more. Gymology will provide a facility that has the qualified staff to deal with health conditions, but more so, the person, to help them restore self confidence and improve mental health and wellbeing. Individuals with chronic illness benefit from exercise, but their conditions are complex on many physical, emotional and psychological levels. Qualified instructors in chronic illness, like those at Gymology, are few and far between. The health and leisure facility will also have a social enterprise cafe within its premises and a wide variety of alternative therapists housed within one building. The facility will be run as a community interest company and all profits and assets will be reinvested. Valerie has been awarded an initial funding package by Firstport’s Award Programme, which helps individuals to turn their ideas into thriving social enterprises.
