HALTER VALUES Everyone is able, ability above disability. Horsemanship enhances humanity. Let our love of horses reflect our love of our fellow man. The versatility of a well-trained horse in the hands of a trained instructor can benefit many people. Riding strengthens the body and improves coordination and balance. Positive relationships with people and animals foster personal growth, physical development and learning Respect yourself and respect others. Honesty: a horse never lies and will only connect with truth. HALTER reminds us to place service before self. GOALS: Provide therapy that makes a positive impact on our clients' lives. Provide a safe and caring environment. Provide quality trained and certified professionals. Provide appropriate training and an encouraging atmosphere for a committed core of dedicated volunteers. Provide healthy and well trained horses. Provide appropriate environment and care for our horses. Our Programs: THERAPEUTIC RIDING: This is the biggest and oldest part of HALTER. In this, a certified instructor with the help of the volunteers, focuses on teaching riding skills and having fun. The skills may range from getting control of your body while on a horse to posting independently at a trot. Individual goals are set for each rider. HIPPO-THERAPY: In this program, a physical, occupational or speech therapist uses the horse as a tool to reach specific therapy goals. This is run in collaboration with Spartanburg Regional Hospital Systems.
