About Hancock County EMS
Hancock County EMS provides emergency medical services with highly trained and licensed emergency medical personnel who provide 911 emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As an independent, non-profit organization serving the cities of Weirton, Chester, Newell, New Cumberland, and the unincorporated areas of Hancock County, the Hancock County Ambulance Service, Inc, or Hancock County EMS, has served the local area for over 40 years. Formerly known as two separate agencies; the Weirton Area Ambulance & Rescue Squad and the New Cumberland, Chester, Newell Ambulance Service; these agencies combined to form Hancock County EMS in February 2018 to consolidate operations and more effectively serve the needs of the local community. HCEMS also provides non-emergency medical ambulance inter-facility transports to area hospitals throughout the Pittsburgh metropolitan region that meet medical necessity requirements, dependent upon crew availability and maintaining adequate 911 coverage of the territory. Unlike the local police and fire departments, HCEMS is NOT taxpayer funded but relies on eligible billing to recover costs of operation, and on donations from concerned area citizens. Donations can be made by contacting the billing department at (304) 564-4451, or by visiting the station in New Cumberland, WV at 205 N. Chester Street.
