About Hand Up

Hand Up LLC is a for-profit social impact organization founded on a guiding belief: Two are better than one — if one falls, the other is there to give a hand up. That’s not just a motto — it’s the heartbeat of everything we do. Hand Up exists to lift others through action. We generate revenue through book sales, public speaking, workshop facilitation, and consulting, but unlike traditional for-profit businesses, we reinvest those funds directly back into our mission: to give others the same kind of hand up that changed my life. Whether it’s helping a veteran navigate moral injury, providing education to someone in crisis, mentoring those without direction, or offering direct financial support when it matters most — our impact is measured in lives touched, not profit made. Our journey has taken us from the mountains of Nepal, where we helped provide mobility and dignity through wheelchairs for children in need, to the halls of Washington D.C., where we’ve helped advocate for major veteran-focused legislation like the 988 Suicide Hotline Act and the PACT Act. But our focus now is turning outward — taking the lessons learned through service and advocacy and bringing them directly to the people who need them most. At its core, Hand Up is about connection. It’s about recognizing that healing often starts when someone looks you in the eye and says, “I’ve been there too.” We build those moments. We create those spaces. And we use every resource we have to ensure no one has to fight alone. We’re not here to provide handouts. We’re here to walk beside people until they find their footing again. That’s what giving a hand up means to us. And it’s what Hand Up was built to do. Hand Up LLC exists to remind you that your story isn't over — in fact, it may just be beginning.
