About Hands in the Community
Hands in the Community is an easy-to-use, caring, professional source of guidance, advocacy, and access to a comprehensive range of services to the people of Tulare and Kings County. Our client base is low-income people, mainly families, who need help to cope with daily problems, such as their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. We are a volunteer-driven organization that serves those in need. Our objective is to assist people in becoming self-sufficient and, more specifically, to strengthen the ability of individuals and families to care for themselves. We assist with access to services towards improved care and well-being. The majority of those we serve are low-income, children, families, disabled, at-risk youth, and elderly. Since 2009, we've helped over 5,500 families. We Collaborate With over 1,100 volunteers, more than 271 businesses and organizations, and 53 churches we are becoming a “go-to place” for many organization referrals. We strive to collaborate with existing networks, organizations, and agencies to provide the best assistance possible to those in need. Our community partner agencies include but are not limited to the Visalia Rescue Mission, Visalia Emergency Aid Council, Tulare Emergency Aid Council, Family Services of Tulare County, Habitat for Humanity, United Way, Health and Human Services, Veterans Services, District Attorney’s Office, CSET and the Samaritan Center. HNC observes the highest standards of business conduct and respect in our relationships with these partners and the community.
