About Harbour Basketball Association
Harbour Basketball is New Zealand’s leading basketball association. We have the greatest number of members, the largest and most innovative competitions and the most successful representative programme in New Zealand. Our coach and match official development programmes are regarded as the benchmarks for New Zealand. Our area encompasses a rapidly growing population of more than 400,000 people, including Kaipatiki, Upper Harbour, Devonport-Takapuna, East Coast Bays and Rodney. Harbour Basketball was incorporated in 1972. Since then a group of predominantly volunteers has built what is unquestionably one of the strongest basketball associations in New Zealand. Our competitions have steadily built in an area that has embraced the sport of basketball. We are the largest secondary school sport and the largest boys sport in our area. Our record in representative basketball over the past 15 years is second to none. Our players have comprised a significant percentage of National Team representatives. We currently have 25 alumni who are playing basketball on scholarship in the US, including ten athletes at NCAA Division I colleges. Our referee development programme has produced a significant number of top level referees who have officiated at age group championships and FIBA Tournaments. Our coach development programme has a significant number of outstanding coaches, many of whom have become National team coaches. Harbour is poised for significant growth over the next few years, constrained solely by a lack of venues for our competitions and other activities. As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on the support and generosity of the communities we operate in as well as the businesses that surround them. As the fastest growing sport in New Zealand, we have some high profile sponsorship opportunities available that we'd love to discuss with your business, so please get in touch, we'd love to chat.
