Harlaxton College serves as a major study abroad site for the University of Evansville (Indiana, USA) and for students from other American colleges and universities. Harlaxton Manor, one of England’s finest Grade I listed country houses, situated in the East Midlands within 117 acres of beautiful gardens, park, and woodland. Harlaxton offers an academic program of the highest quality which integrates traditional teaching with experiential learning and extensive travel opportunities to create a unique study abroad experience. We offer a curriculum that appeals to students from all majors at the heart of which is the British Studies course (6 credits) taken by all students and taught by an outstanding British faculty. Our course offerings, however, cover a breadth of disciplines and general education options that allows students to progress seamlessly toward graduation while also expanding their personal and academic horizons. Honors options are also widely available. Under the direction of talented and dedicated faculty, Honors students at Harlaxton can take advantage of unique research, travel and presentation opportunities to learn and develop new skills in the glorious setting of Harlaxton Manor. A unique feature of the Harlaxton Program is its integration of all facets of the student experience toward the end of developing responsible global citizens. Because we are small, because students and faculty all live in the same house, because all take the same interdisciplinary course in British history and culture, and because we dedicate ourselves to this integrative mission 24/7, it is a fact of Harlaxton life that learning never stops. And so the classroom is deliberately linked to travels, to experiences of host families and the local culture, to residence in one of the great historic structures of Britain, to student development programs, and to building skills in intercultural understanding.
