About Have A Heart Clinic
The Have A Heart Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization founded on the belief that “free care doesn’t have to cost much.” Based in Louisville, Kentucky, the Have A Heart Foundation provides quality, complete cardiovascular care to individuals via the Have A Heart Clinic. Since 2008, the Clinic’s volunteer cardiovascular specialists have met with and treated patients from all over Kentucky and Southern Indiana at the Louisville Cardiology Group office located in East Louisville. Indigent patients travel from all parts of Jefferson County and the surrounding region to be diagnosed, treated and educated about heart disease prevention. Our patients are often referred to the Clinic because either they cannot afford the high premiums mandated by insurance plans or they have the wrong insurance (i.e., their provider does not accept Medicaid coverage). Many of our patients are uninsured, despite recent efforts made by the Affordable Care Act. The Have a Heart Clinic will see and treat patients with insurance and the ability to pay fees and use those funds to care for those patients who qualify for free services. This “pay it forward” method of care is what sets the Have A Heart Clinic apart from other providers and the very thing that has made the Clinic a sustainable success.
