About Hawaii Affiliate of Susan G Komen

The Hawaii Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, established in 1999, sponsors fundraising events including the Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure®. In 1995, the first Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure® was held in Honolulu with 800 participants. We are now celebrating our 16th Annual Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure® and our race has progressed. We hope to have 6,500 runners or walkers this year helping to raise money to fund screening, treatment and prevention for the underserved and uninsured women of Hawaii and to provide education about breast cancer. Up to 75% of net funds raised from the Race and other fundraising events are provided to support other local non-profit organizations and educational institutions. No less than 25% of net funds raised support breast cancer research. To date, we have funded over $1,000,000.00 for breast health and breast cancer education, screening and treatment throughout the state of Hawaii.
