About Hawk Conservancy Trust
The Hawk Conservancy Trust is an award winning visitor centre and conservation charity that has worked for many years in the fields of conservation, education, rehabilitation and research of birds of prey. Set in 22 acres of woodland and wildflower meadow, there are over 150 birds of prey on view, from owls to eagles! Many of these birds are involved in our spectacular daily flying demonstrations, whilst others are part of important breeding or environmental enrichment projects. The Trust actively promotes education through interaction, and every visitor can get close to or hold a bird of prey during their visit. The conservation of birds of prey and the preservation of the environment is the main feature of the Trust’s mission. It participates in conservation breeding programmes for endangered species and was the first organisation to breed and release Red Kites back into the wild in the UK. The Hawk Conservancy Trust also receives over 200 young, sick or injured birds of prey each year, which are treated in the Trust’s specialist hospital and rehabilitation aviaries. The Trust operates the British Raptor Programme, which has projects providing much needed breeding sites for species of British raptor, such as the Barn Owl, Kestrel, Tawny Owl and Little Owl. The Trust also runs the International Vulture Programme, with projects in Pakistan and South Africa.
