About Head On Foundation

Head On Foundation is Australia’s leading non-profit organisation that presents an annual program and the internationally renowned Head On Photo Festival. The Festival attracts over 400,000 visits and showcases 900 Australian and international photo-artists annually in venues around Sydney. It is a major platform for discovering new talent, re-discovering established artists and exploring new technologies and ideas through exhibitions, workshops, discussions and collaborations with other events. The Head On Photo Awards in Portrait, Landscape, Environmental and Student categories are at the festival's heart. Since establishing these, the Foundation has awarded over $800,000 in cash and products. The Foundation also runs an extensive annual public engagement program and education, which includes workshops, seminars, artists' talks, projections and portfolio reviews aimed at practising photographers and the general public. Head On celebrates all genres and techniques, covering photojournalism, commercial art, fine art, mobile phone photography, and multimedia. Exhibitions in large and small galleries, museums, parks, cafes and illuminations on buildings showcase excellence in photography from across the globe.
