About Healers of the New School

Healers of the New School was inspired through a healthy urge to express spiritual inquiry passed down by elders, to create a new bridge with the new generation of thinking. Special and ongoing programming, and lifestyle tools are introduced to bring new school approaches to spiritual attunement. Healers of the New School was created in February 2009 in the Crown Heights area of Brooklyn by then 23-year old, Ta ziyah, a sprouting youth educator, Yoga instructor, and licensed Reiki practitioner. After being trained by master herbologist/teacher, Queen Afua, he started organizing programs in an effort to create and maintain a spiritual connection between him and his peers. Programs have been organized within New York, D.C. and Atlanta introducing spiritual practices such as Yoga, and Tai Chi to youth through spoken word and music, as well as new school concepts for teaching chakra systems in a very practical way. We are focused on creating lifestyle models for positive development in contemporary culture, where youth feel empowered and equipped to be the new custodians of the earth. Providing sacred space for them to connect, and nurturing their creative spirit through Art, Health, and Spirituality was and still is the mission of Healers of the New School.
