About HealthEd Connect
HealthEd Connect empowers women and children through evidence-based health, education, and advocacy. We train and partner with volunteer Community Health Workers (CHW) using research-based health practices and participatory research to identify and address community needs. Through our partnership with CHW, community-led programs focused on health and education have developed in four countries – Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Zambia, and Nepal. We recognize the impact health has on human rights, equity, and empowerment. Our CHW colleagues bridge the gap to provide access to basic health care and education. CHWs are trained in first-aid, sanitation, nutrition, illness prevention, infant and child growth monitoring, prenatal and postnatal monitoring. Some have earned additional certifications to administer vaccines and safely deliver babies. The foundation for our programs is participatory research conducted by CHW and local leaders about the greatest threats to the health and well-being of children and adults. Participatory research values the lived experience of community members, empowering them from the start as the experts to provide evidence of their most pressing concerns. As each community is unique, so are the programs which have developed and are locally directed. To learn more, please visit our website: healthedconnect.org
