About Healthy Reefs for Healthy People
Healthy Reefs for Healthy People (HRHP) is an international collaborative program of over 70 research, management, and conservation organizations dedicated to safeguarding the Mesoamerican Reef (MAR). HRHP uses scientific data to generate Report Cards on coral reef health and other evaluation tools that regional leaders, local partners, and policymakers can use to protect the MAR. HRHP’s mission is to improve scientific understanding of the functioning of coral reefs and enhance their ecosystem health through implementation of science-based management interventions, collaborations with partners to design innovative financial instruments and influence a wide array of shareholders including private sector, media, and resource user groups. HRHP’s objective is to create more informed and powerful shareholders, necessary for a healthy reef ecosystem.
