About Hearing Aid Academy
The Hearing Aid Academy offers a high value education and prepares NEW Hearing Instrument Specialist to quickly and substantively enter the market and respond effectively to the growing savvy baby boomer population. Before the HAA became available, the main source of education to the NEW dispensing specialist was apprenticeship based. As appropriate as apprentice-based training has been to educate and prepare the dispensing specialist for the last 50 years, it is widely recognized that a deeper level of training and preparation are necessary to prepare the dispensing specialist to effectively meet the demands of today's consumers. To resolve the inherent gaps in the alternatives to educating students in hearing instrument sciences, the HAA was formed. Head of Curriculum, Dr. Rosemary Simpson, AuD, gleans practical education subjects and retail based components to train dispensers, each designed to fully prepare the new specialist to introduce, comprehension focused hearing instrument sciences to one’s practice. When the HAA syllabus is contrasted and compared with apprentice based requirements necessary to teach students to sell hearing instruments, the HAA stands out as the only practical educational source. Online courses and unique online hands-on practicum are not found elsewhere in the educational system for dispensers. The HAA illustrates the vision of the future of hearing care now available today!
