About Heart Cells Foundation
Ian Rosenberg was 66 when his heart began to fail, and he was given two months to live. After a revolutionary stem cell trial in Germany, he had an extra three years of life! The therapy involves using a patient’s stem cells to improve their heart function. Stem cells are taken from the patient's bone marrow and injected into their heart. Due to the treatment not being available in the UK, Ian and his wife, Jenifer Rosenberg OBE, founded the Heart Cells Foundation to fund trials, support patients, and ensure that this treatment is available to all. Jenifer, together with her trustees, drives the charity forward today. Many of our past patients have become our biggest ambassadors, raising key funds! One of our biggest achievements has been to launch the unique ‘Compassionate Treatment Unit for Heart Failure’ at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London. The only centre in the country to treat patients with heart failure based on compassionate grounds using their own stem cells. We are celebrating our 20th anniversary!
