About Heart Centered Horsemanship
Heart Centered Horsemanship specializes in teaching MINDFUL HORSEMANSHIP and RIDING WITH MINDFUL MOVEMENT classes and clinics. We also offer Equine Assisted Learning, Equine Assisted Therapeutic Services, lessons for all ages and youth camps at LaBelle Equestrian in Mt. Ulla, NC. Mindful Horsemanship teaches the power of holding a safe space for ourselves and our horses through presence, setting clear boundaries and nervous system co-regulation. Clients are taught how to create meaningful connections through various practices including Debono Moves, a Feldenkrais-inspired hands-on modality developed by Mary Debono. Clients are also taught to communicate in the horse's language of movement, energy, position and body language. This mind-body approach is ideal for horse stewards seeking a true partnership with their horses as well as professionals in equine assisted learning and therapy who want a method that is congruent with educational and therapeutic goals. In addition to relationship building on the ground, clients are taught to ride using subtle and nuanced movement that any horse can understand. With a soft connection and clear communication, the horse begins to move as an extension of your own body. Following the principals of classical dressage, riders learn to help their horses carry them with maximum ease and fluidity. Heart Centered Horsemanship serves students of all ages, including long-distance coaching for professionals developing equine assisted mental health programs. Clinics are offered on-site at LaBelle Equestrian as well as off-site at host facilities.
