About Heartbeats Charitable Trust
Heartbeats is a community-based, peer-to-peer cardiac support group that operates across Auckland for men and women who have experienced a heart event. It is a family/whanau inclusive group that welcomes diversity. Heartbeats groups are set up for the local community with facilitators that are culturally and ethnically attuned to the community. The objective of Heartbeats is to: • provide better understanding of heart disease • help each other and families in ongoing, cardiac rehabilitation and heart health management • share personal concerns and insights • help the broader community understand heart disease We believe that everyone can benefit and learn from sharing individual experiences and knowledge with others who have had similar life-changing events. Heartbeats is NOT a psychological counselling service, an exercise-based rehabilitation group, or a social club.
