About Helping Orphans

Helping Orphans was established and is led by Hanan Habibzai, with its headquarters in the UK. The organisation is registered in the UK and Afghanistan. Our operations team in Kabul is headed by a country director and all operational personnel are Afghan nationals. This is a real strength which enables partnership working with the local authorities and access to vulnerable communities. We currently work in Kabul, a city with considerable and ever-increasing levels of vulnerability, but our aim is to expand activities beyond Kabul when the security situation permits and to further develop our Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods Programme. War and poverty are the two main contributing factors driving’s families to deprivation with inaccessibility to food and healthy life. Lack of clean drinking water has also contributed widely to the spread of diseases across Afghanistan. The most deprived victims are orphans and vulnerable communities who desperately need access to food, safe drinking water, and shelter. They also need access to education and schooling so they can adopt a healthy lifestyle and hope for a brighter future. So, it was in light of this deplorable situation that I founded Helping Orphans to help to alleviate the suffering of the orphans and vulnerable people and to assist them in becoming productive members of society.
