About Helping Services for Youth & Families
Helping Services, a private nonprofit, has been serving Northeast Iowa since 1973. We are dedicated to responding to current health and safety needs of youth and families through empowerment, support, and education. Four main teams carry out the mission of healthier, safer families and communities by collaborating with donors, organizations, and volunteers: DOMESTIC ABUSE ADVOCACY Advocates work with survivors to help them get to safety, process a traumatic event, and live life knowing they are not to blame. Talk confidentially with an advocate by calling 1-800-383-2988. FAMILY EDUCATION & SUPPORT Families and communities of all configurations, incomes, and situations are shown ways to build maximum child development, positive parent-child interaction, and involved neighborhoods. SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION Local parents, youth, government, and businesses are prepared to stop the future misuse and illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
