About Hen Hoose

The pandemic has underlined just how precarious music careers are, even for those well established. In the struggle to survive, women have fewer opportunities to develop revenue streams to sustain a viable career than men. From songwriting and production, to the live arena, streaming and radio play, women are underrepresented throughout the industry. Hen Hoose is a response to this situation. Launched in Glasgow, this is a collaborative female and non-binary songwriting project funded by Creative Scotland. It unites a rich and diverse array of wonderfully talented and award-winning female Scottish artists, writers and producers with the goal of collaborating remotely on the creation of exciting new music across multiple genres. Amongst the artists signed up are: Karine Polwart, Emma Pollock, Stina Tweeddale (Honeyblood) Amandah Wilkinson (Bossy Love), Beldina Odenyo Onassis (Heir Of The Cursed), Carla J Easton, Rachael Swinton (Cloth), Pippa Murphy, Sarah Hayes (Admiral Fallow), Inge Thomson, Suse Bear (Pictish Trail), Tamara Schlesinger (MALKA), India Rose and Elisabeth Elektra.
