About Herburg Roses

Herburg Roses Plc is established in 2006 in Ziway, Ethiopia at the Sher Ethiopia project. We started our first greenhouse in 2006 with 18 hectare of rose production. In 2008 we expanded our operation to a total of 40 hectare. All cut flower roses. We are now at the position of being in full production, which means an average 2 million rose stems per week, over a 100 million roses per year. Last year we found ourselves being at the top 4 of biggest exporting companies in the Horticultural industry in Ethiopia. Our management team has both Dutch and Ethiopian members being responsible for the daily process of this multi million operation. At our production facility 1150 inhabitants of Ziway are employed by Herburg Roses and have an income to support an estimated 4500+ family members with their income. We live up to high social standards at our company. We have for example an own nurse employed for all first aid needs. She works in close cooperation with the Sher Ethiopia Hospital which is located at our compound. Herburg Roses is also shareholder of the Sher Ethiopia Hospital where all our employees can use the maternity facilities, medicines and also an Aids/HIV clinic is housed in the hospital. Children of our workers are able to join our school. Starting at the age of 5 to 18 years old, specific lessons for each age are available given by a number of well skilled teachers. After work there are different arrangements for sports realized, such as: volleyball, soccer and basketball. Costs of the hospital, the school and the sports facilities are fully paid by Herburg Roses. We believe it is our destiny to offer the best possible to our employees.
