About Heritage Skills Academy

Heritage Skills Academy (HSA) works with employers, apprentices, and industry leaders to train the next generation of heritage engineers and create exciting opportunities within the heritage industry. Founded in 2015 by John Pitchforth, HSA was established to meet the growing need for a younger generation in the heritage sector. Working alongside education and industry professionals, we developed the Heritage Engineering Apprenticeship Standard — ensuring apprentices gain the technical skills, experience, and attributes required to thrive in this specialist field. We have created dedicated training facilities for mechanical, coachbuilding, and trim apprenticeships. Our locations at Bicester Heritage and Brooklands Museum provide apprentices with a unique and vibrant environment, surrounded by specialist engineers, historic engineering, and cutting-edge technology. We don’t just deliver apprenticeships — we partner with employers to make recruitment and onboarding as smooth as possible, freeing up valuable time and resources. From tailored recruitment support to ongoing advice, we ensure employers and apprentices are set up for success. At HSA, we believe that only by working together can we preserve the skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm of today’s professionals, and pass them on to future generation.
