About HERO UCI Marathon World Cup

What is the HERO? It represents mountains of passion, stamina, and top-notch performance on the bike. It brings together like-minded people aiming for the same goal: winning and becoming a HERO. Someone who also believes in protecting the environment. The HERO represents shared dreams and unforgettable experiences taking place across the most important, beloved, international mountain bike events. These are the foundations of the newborn HERO UCI MARATHON WORLD CUP, the international circuit which will award the UCI World Cup title. Five of Europe's best-loved mountain bike marathons, led by the HERO Organising Committee will be united for the first time under the UCI aegis. The challenge will start in Italy, with the Capoliveri Legend Cup (10/05/25), and then it will move to Andorra with the Naturland (01/06/25). Turning point at the HERO Südtirol Dolomites (14/06/24), the race that also lends its name to the circuit. From there, it will continue in Germany with the Black Forest ULTRA Bike Marathon (13/07/25), and the winners will be awarded in Girona during La Tramun Sea Otter Europe (21/09/25), the last race which concludes the circuit. HERO UCI MARATHON WORLD CUP was born from the fifteen-year experience of the organisers of the HERO Südtirol Dolomites, whose first edition kicked off in 2010 in Selva Val Gardena, where it now takes place every year, before the breathtaking Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The race has become the toughest mountain bike marathon in the world, an unmissable event for pros and amateurs across the globe with its iconic routes – 86 km and 4,500 hm, 71 km and 4,100 hm, and 60 km and 3,200 hm. It is more than a simple race, as it also raises awareness about sustainability. Over the last few years, it has strived to be as carbon-neutral as possible, and the Organising Committee has implemented initiatives to reach the 100% carbon-neutral goal, an effort that won them the very first 2024 UCI Climate Action Award.
