About Hertford Cycle Hub

A new not-for-profit organisation has formed as a result of covid-19, known as Hertford Cycle Hub. The reason it became established is due to the lack of active travel support for the local community. The areas of deprivation has become more prevalent during this time and has caused such areas to become more isolated, inactive and vulnerable. Cycling has increased during covid-19, providing a critical lifeline to many communities during a critical time. It is also a resilient mode of transport that can continue to provide valuable benefits to communities in the future, too. Although, many areas/ individuals are unable to afford a bicycle or even know how to cycle. A lot of the local community response has been surrounding the unknown of local cycling routes, unknown of how to teach their children to cycle, how to safely cycle on the roads or how to repair a bicycle if out and about. Therefore Hertford Cycle Hub aims to be the community hub in East Hertfordshire, providing services such as bicycle maintenance lessons, learn to cycle classes, led bike rides, bicycle hire, upcycling bicycles and providing them to low income families and much more.
