About Highclere Castle Cigar
Highclere Castle Cigar Co. was founded in 2017 via a partnership with the 8th Earl of Carnarvon, world renowned cigar blender, Nicholas Melillo of Foundation Cigar Company, and CEO/entrepreneur Adam von Gootkin. Highclere Castle might be better known to millions of viewers as the fictional home “Downton Abbey,” but the magnificent estate in Hampshire, England has been the seat of the Carnarvon family for over 300 years. The crafting of this cigar took hundreds of hours and trips throughout Central and South America. As a result of Nick’s relationships with small tobacco growers throughout the region, we have been able to select from very small lots of the finest tobaccos from family farms known for their excellent growths. The flavor profile has been modeled after cigars from the turn of the 19th century that were being imported to Highclere Castle, typically for the gentleman to enjoy after dinner. Specific records and receipts were located by the castle archivist and used as inspiration for the Highclere Cigar blend.
