About Higher Education Strategic Planners Association (HESPA)
The Higher Education Strategic Planners Association (HESPA) is the representative body for those working in strategy and planning roles in UK higher education, supporting members via advocacy, development and networking opportunities. We provide an active forum for strategic planners in higher education to network, and engage with their peers to share good practice, challenges and opportunities. We support their professional development and career progression with bespoke training, mentoring and other learning opportunities. We also provide advocacy support and attempt to influence future of higher education by challenging policy and promoting awareness and understanding of issues which affect institutions in achieving their strategic goals. The role of a strategic planner in higher education is not easily defined, but strategic planners are often referred to as the “glue” which holds their institution together. They straddle an institution’s functions, bringing together colleagues and activities to develop and achieve common institutional goals.
