About Highland Community Church
A group of people came together in late 1984 around a common vision of a culturally sensitive church with an evangelical message, to bring people into a relationship with Jesus Christ and to help them to grow in Him. Pastor Ken Moberg came in 1985 as our founding pastor, and served here for 16 years. During that time God blessed the church with growth in Christian maturity, in numbers and in quality of programs. Phases one (offices and classrooms, 1994) and two (sanctuary and more classrooms, 1999) of our building were constructed during that time, and additional staff were added. Pastor Jeffrey Hinds became our second senior pastor in 2002. Under his leadership, the congregation has grown, constructed phase three (multipurpose rooms, offices and more classrooms, 2006) of the building, and started a campus in Weston. Highland has always had a strong commitment to teaching the Word of God to all ages. Staffing has expanded to include pastors of children, youth, worship, and campus pastors for both Wausau and Weston, and an executive pastor. Paid and volunteer support staff round out the field and make sure people get the help they need to take the next step in their relationship with God.
